All he really was was an apologist for a belief structure given air time and adulation by others of the same ilk. He reminded me to some degree of Raymond Williams.Damian Hockneyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15805337734492250142noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4057487038565855826.post-29214901370797702252012-10-02T12:34:20.450+01:002012-10-02T12:34:20.450+01:00Very good, Helen ! I am glad somebody heard my startled protests. Anne Applebaum is knowledgeable about Communism but has no idea or understanding of the EU. Back on topic I think the Nazi holocaust looms larger in the minds of most people than any of the horrors inflicted on the World by Communism. I suspect this is largely due to the fact we only fought proxy wars in far off places against Communism, and a Cold War, we never actually had to go through a real War against them. The revisionist history of old frauds such as Hobsbawm, and his fellow travellers is undoubtedly another factor.Ian Reidnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4057487038565855826.post-77777524067045442812012-10-02T03:57:24.944+01:002012-10-02T03:57:24.944+01:00Off topic, this, but no advance notice here, or in...Off topic, this, but no advance notice here, or in EU Referendum, of your taking part in Start the Week on Radio 4 (along with Anne Applebaum) - thanks to iPlayer, I will be able to catch up.
