From sea to shining sea

Well not quite, since bankrupt California and bankrupt New York State have decided to stay with the politicians who have bankrupted them and that, too, is democracy. We can only hope that they will reap the rewards of their decision and be allowed to fail. However, across the country many are rejoicing. The House has gone Republican though the Senate has stayed Democrat as quite a few predicted, anyway. State legislatures have gone Republican, 37 Gubernatorial positions are in the GOP's hands. Some of those supported by the Tea Party, like Rand Paul, have won; others, like Christine O'Donnell, have lost. But, there can be no question in anybody's mind: the Taxed Enough Already movement has made its mark and is there to stay in American politics. Those idiots who snigger at the idea of a grassroots movement being strong and becoming stronger are showing their colours.

There is no need for me to analyze any of this in detail. This will be done by people who know much more than I do and from time to time I shall link to some of the analysis. Here is a very good article in the Wall Street Journal that gives real data.

But I should like to say, loud and clear:

THIS IS WHAT A DEMOCRACY LOOKS LIKE. THIS IS WHAT THE PEOPLE OUGHT TO BE ABLE TO DO TO ITS GOVERNMENT: GIVE IT AN ALMIGHTY KICKING WHEN IT GOES OFF THE RAIL.

That is all. God Bless America.

  1. A very fine night for us indeed! We have elected quite a few good conservatives in the house and also the Senate. Sadly we were not able to get our Little gal in against the Democratic Machine that backed Pallone in NJ-6. However she had the best showing against him in his 11 consecutive elections. So we will be working for the next 2 years to unseat him! After volunteering and meeting so many like-minded neighbors I believe we the people have woken up and will continue to keep the pressure on our Government. Thank you for being such a great supporter from across the pond for our Conservative wave.
    Cheers,

    Natalie

  2. Congratulations overall, Natalie, and good luck in the forthcoming fight. This, I suspect, was the easy bit. I am hoping people here might get inspired as well. And get rid of that guy in 2 years' time. :-))

  3. This is a good thing, but the fact is the political class's life depends on parasitizing the rest of society and they are at it full time. This buys us time but in the end they win unless there is rethinking of the way our political institutions are ordered.
