Another one we can close down

The Daily Wail Mail reports that Gisela Stuart, one of the few sensible MPs around apart from her incomprehensible desire for an IN/OUT referendum, has protested about the British Counmcil promoting "more Europe" using the money they receive for the promotion of Britain, British culture and the English language. Admittedly, £20,000 out of £200 million is not much but it might be worth somebody's while to have a good look at what the British Council's Brussels office is doing anyway. And then we can close the whole organization down.

  2. In 2006, the British Youth Council, in contravention of the 1996 Education Act, teamed up with the European Commission to promote a competition in UK schools to design a poster promoting the virtues of further integration. The prize was a trip to Brussels. (At the time the chairman of the British Council, effectively the financial parent of the British Youth Council, was ex-commissar Kinnock.)

Mikgen, I do hope so, though, as I recall, that was a mistake, caused by the British sergeant introducing him as the well-known writer.
