Watching the debate

No, I shall not be doing so. I shall read Hansard tomorrow and comment though, naturally, the result will be of interest. However, in case any of my readers want to watch and don't know the link to the Parliamentary channel, here it is. I am off to have some coffee, then London Library, then the Bruges Group meeting. Catch up later.

  1. D Cameron: "In 17 months in government, we have already achieved two of the three. No more powers have gone to Brussels. Indeed, the bail-out power has actually been returned and, of course, the referendum lock is in place. I remain firmly committed to achieving the third: bringing back more powers from Brussels."

Didn't there used to be a punishment for MPs who deliberately lied to Parliament? "No more powers have gone to Brussels."

  2. MPs and especially PMs have always lied to Parliament. It's a myth that things were ever otherwise. Cameron may be slightly more blatant than many others but not much.
